Alex Smoke - Paradolia (2006)

Why this is getting little to no attention beyond word-of-mouth buzz is beyond me - Alex Smoke's Paradolia has skyrocketed to easily one of my favorite albums of this year. I was intrigued by last year's Incommunicado, but "Smoke" seems to have tightened his sound into an even sexier, thumping, lucid electronic juggernaut. Just when you think the album's settling into a steady cadence of beat oblivion, Smoke throws you a curveball with weird vocoder tricks and organic samples. Just ridiculously good stuff.
